The VIVA Beauty Awards are taking place in Dubai on Wednesday evening. I’ve voted in the awards and will be there on the night to see who takes the glory – but in the meantime, the awards have got me thinking…
Who would I select as the winners of my own beauty regime?
Here are the products taking all the glory…
Joint Winners in Perfume: Clarins Sunshine Fragrance and Jo Loves Pomelo.
Both these fragrances are fresh, summery, uplifting and perfect for Dubai. I alternate between the two, leaving the bottles by the door for a quick spritz before I head out into 40 degrees. If you haven’t yet smelt them, I highly recommend a sniff. You can buy the Clarins fragrance at any counter across UAE, but you will need to order Jo Loves from her website for international delivery.
Winner in Mascara: Rimmel Scandaleyes Show Off Mascara
I’m fussy when it comes to mascara, but this is my current favourite. It extends lashes, builds volume and – most importantly, for me – does it without any clumps. The brush has a unique ball-shaped tip, which makes it really easy to get right to the tip of lashes without smudging all over your lids – and also makes it easy to quickly add mascara to shorter, lower lashes. It’s available across UAE – I get mine from Boots or Spinneys.
Joint Winners in Nail Polish: Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour in Fracas and Zoya in Blu.
I can’t pick between my two favourites for summer. I’ve blogged about both recently – so to see them on my nails and find out where to buy, click Chanel here and Zoya here. Both are appropriate for summer, without being too safe.
Winner in Anti-Ageing Product: Bliss The Youth As We Know It Anti-Ageing Eye Cream
Bliss has recently arrived in the UAE at Debenhams, Mall of the Emirates – and this is my pick from the skincare range. It hydrates and smoothes the under-eye area and also helps to fade dark circles (very important when you have a baby that likes to wake at 5am…) Also it’s worth noting that it’s very gentle too, as I have quite sensitive skin under my eyes. The husband loves it too (ssssh!)
Winner in Face Moisturiser: Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream
I have used this moisturiser for years and you’d have to drag me away from it kicking and screaming as it is just the best. It leaves skin feeling instantly hydrated, more comfortable, smoother, and softer – but the texture is fairly thin and cooling, so perfect for the heat of Dubai. It transformed my skin when I first started using it, giving me a far more even skin tone, less fine lines from dehydration, and less sensitivity. You can buy Elemis products from their UAE website with free delivery to your door.
Winner in Lipstick: YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in Pink in Paris
Not only does this luxury lipstick apply smoothly, leave lips feeling supple and moisturised, and give a lovely plumping effect, but this colour is just beautiful. The rose-like pink echoes my natural lip colour, but gives it a bit more oomph – and isn’t the packaging just to die for? You can get it at YSL counters across UAE.
Winner in Body Product: Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula
When it comes to skincare, I have a very simple bodycare routine – I shower and then I moisturise. I rarely fake tan as I am too pale to pull off any mistakes (although it has to be said that the Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Fake Tan is one of the few I can and do use). This moisturiser is brilliant – it’s thick, but easy to massage into skin, intensely moisturising, and leaves skin with a great sheen (perfect if you have the pins out). I love the smell, which will appeal to those with a sweet tooth and it has turned my post-shaved legs from dry and scaly to smooth, hydrated, and glowing! It’s cheap as chips – I get my bottle from Spinneys.
So there are my choices – but I wonder who will take the glory on Wednesday night? Check back later this week to find out who won the VIVA Beauty Awards – good luck to all the companies nominated and shortlisted!
